Well its no good learning to play your guitar if you can’t tune it is it?
There are many different ways you can tune your guitar but the best way to do it is by buying a small electronic device that can tune your guitar to exact notes.
It is by far the best way to learn to tune your guitar.
The layout for tuning your guitar is as follows:
| STRING |
NOTE |
| 6th string(the fat one) |
E |
| 5th string |
A |
| 4th string |
D |
| 3rd string |
G |
| 2nd string |
B |
| 1st string(the thin one) |
e |
1. First thing you need to do is get one string in tune(preferably E).
2. Then all you’ve got to do is this:
| -Put your finger on the 5th fret on the E string. That should match the tone on the open A string. Turn the A tuning key until they match. |
| -Put your finger on the 5th fret on the A string. That should match the tone on the open D string. Turn the D tuning key until they match. |
| -Put your finger on the 5th fret on the D string. That should match the tone on the open G string. Turn the G tuning key until they match. |
| -Put your finger on the 4th fret on the G string. That should match the tone on the open B string. Turn the B tuning key until they match. |
| -Put your finger on the 5th fret on the B string. That should match the tone on the open e string. Turn the e tuning key until they match. |
Maybe not so easy for some of us. Be Patient, it just takes a little time before our ears learn the tones and their relations to each other.
The two tables above are from Tuning Your Guitar
Then when you get your guitar in tune you will be ready to play your guitar. When you become more advanced in playing hte guitar you will be able to tune by ear, which means you will not need any extra tuning device.
But it is still good to learn to tune your guitar using an electronic tuner.
Jamorama which is the best learn to play the guitar guid around also teaches you about tuning and how to tune and play your guitar by ear. The are the best guitar learning resource around.

Ok, I’ve found this funky little tool at
http://www.chordbook.com/guitarchords.php
It’s awesome, it’s a virtual guitar where you can play chords on the guitar, and figure out what sounds like what.
I just wasted 15 minutes playing with it, so be prepared to play around for a little while
WARNING: We are not liable for any hassles your boss might cause you at work for playing with this virtual guitar
Haha, have fun!

Straight up… no. Usually you’ll end up wasting your time and effort trying to learn how to play the guitar, and end up worse off then when you started.
We haven’t seen a single free program out there that is any decent… most of the programs available for free won’t teach you more then a few chords before they will ask you to buy something.
That’s just the way it is in business, they have to make their money somehow, but personally, we’d rather go for a guitar course and pay for it upfront so we know EXACTLY what it is we are getting.
If you do find a really good free guitar course out there, then please let us know so we can post it for our members… but only decent courses that teach you everything, not a half assed guitar course that will teach you 3 chords and then ask you to buy some $200 program!

If you want to learn to play the guitar, there is really only one BEST way to go about doing it.
Modeling off of guitar players who are already exceptional at what they do, is by far and away the best way to learn the guitar.
The challenge with this though, is finding someone who is that good at playing the guitar, can be either a) very difficult or b) very expensive.
If you do manage to find someone to teach you who has played in a well known band etc. chances are you’ll be paying through the teeth to be taught.
The good news is that with the introduction of the internet, lead band guitarists are developing their own courses, and making them available to the public, so you can get access to an incredible teacher, without the incredible cost.
It’s the best of both worlds (check out Jamorama Learn Guitar Online, our top picks)

So you want to Learn Guitar do you?
What is your reason for doing so?
Why do we pose this question to you? It’s simple, learning the guitar ISN’T an easy thing to do; it can take a long time to learn it properly.
So before you start, make sure that you really do want to learn, sure, if you just want to learn a single song for whatever reason (playing at a Wedding or one off event etc.) then it won’t take you long, you don’t need to understand the methodology behind the guitar, just how and when to strike the chords.
But if it’s a hobby that you want to take up for a long term, and you just want something easy to learn, you’ll probably give up before you get started.
If you’re committed to learning though, you’ll find it one of the most rewarding, enjoying experiences you could ever have in this life.
Learning to play the guitar, learning to create and produce music, is something that very few people in this world get to do… so make sure your reason is right before you start.
This will lead to you being more enthusiastic with learning guitar and lead to you being a better player.

You know, if you want to Learn Guitar online, it is definitely possible.
You don’t have to go to a guitar teach offline, go to their classes for the next 12 months just to be able to play 1 song.
The fact is, that often, these classes HOLD YOU BACK. Why? Because you are only able to go at the pace that the teacher can teach you at. You are subject to only being able learn to the level of the teacher.
The great thing about learning the guitar online, is once you have access to a program, you can go at the speed that you want to. As fast, or as slow as you’d like to.
You can check out our recommended product in our review page or at Jamorama, it’s like having the lead guitarist of Green Day teaching you.
